Outlook & IE 5 crashing
I installed Outlook 2000 and IE5 from the Office 2000 CD.
Ever since I have installed it (2 months ago) both have been getting invalid page faults steady. I can hardly use them both.
In "details" it always has many different .dlls which have caused the problem and sometimes it says unknown.
Does anyone know how I can fix this, I'm getting really sick and tired of it.
Thanks

Win 98
Did you run System File Checker?
Start->Run and type SFC. This will check the integrity of you system files and prompt you for the Win98 CD if needed.
Shut down the computer and restart in DOS mode and type SCANREG /FIX to check the registry for problems.
If neither of these help give me more information on the errors, DLL's and complete error messages.

Hi celtics. I have never heard of the SFC utility. Is it new to Win98?.
I ran it and it said a file by the name of pstores was missing, so I got it from the CD.
What does this file do?

I just got a browseui.dll invalid page fault.
I will try the scanreg fix.
Come to think of it, the last couple of weeks the odd time if I have to reboot I'll get an error msg that the registry needs fixing. so it'll reboot and fix the reigistry if that helps.

Hi celtic, FYI I ran the scanreg fix and it fixed the system.dat file if that would make a difference?
Yes, SFC is new to Windows 98. If the problem was in the registry SCANREG may have resolved the problem. Here are a couple of articles from Microsoft on this problem. The first article is about repairing a IE5 installation and 2 and 3 are about browseui IPF. The articles are in my order of preference, you can take a look at them and decide what you want to try first if the errors persist.

Ok thanks, I will try that.
Over the weekend It has crashed numerous times even after I did the scan reg fix a couple of times.
Would it make a difference if I formatted and re-installed everything?
This drive I have now was brand new with everythig installed from scratch about three months ago.
thanks..
