Modem connection speed

I had to reinstall Win98 and now the blinking screens do not reflect the accurate connection speed. Do I need to uninstall dial up netwoking and reinstall it to get an accurate reading ? please advise

Did you reinstall the Modem driver? if you don't have the right driver then you won't get the correct speed shown there

What are you using to decide the connection speed is inaccurate?  I ask because these may vary.  After your reinstall, did you check back with WindowsUpdate to see if all is still in order with fixes?  Did you also check Start - Run - SFC?

You may actually benefit from reinstalling DUN; as we found, but as I feel..... if it's not broken, don't fix it.  The old statement holds true.
