content server
i have been running the same os and have not downloaded anything for months and i notice something in the bottm right coner on the icon bar and its a black like box with a green like circle and below is a red like circle (simalar to a stop light) it has me confused i never seen before and i had computer a year and a half now and never once seen this icon i leave mouse pointer on it all it says is "conected to content server" that have anything to do with isp? i thank you for any help

thanks for responce,before i posted i did happen to try to close all programs and the computer completly froze.it wont hurt to try again i dont think so i will.and i raise points from 100 to 150.i thankful for anymore suggestions bombays

ok this time the same icon appeared and when i left mouse pointer on it ..it said "conecting update server" so anyways i did press ctrl-alt-del to close all programs and computer crashed before i could get to the explorer to be only program running.it told me "monitor"caused invalid page in kernel.dll then it just froze again.
something is "monitoring" your pc or "monitoring" new "contents" somewhere out there on the web. I've never heard of such a "content server". You sure it's been a while you havn't installed anything new? When you start to notice such an icon in the tray? Do ctrl-alt-del and copy down everything running and post them here. Maybe someone else is familiar with this app!

doebuck i had done what you said and went into registry and i did notice something there that i had not seen before,anyways i dont have much time so i delited it and so far no more icon so if you wish post as answer and i will give you the points and if i have anymore problems with the icon i will post new quiestion thanks alot and i increase points from 200 to 250 thanks again. bombays
i am not sure what it is. but here is a guide to check out first:
terminate all applications. press CRTL-ALT-DEL. a window called Close Program will appear. Except for 'Explorer' (which is the windows) you can try to End Task the rest. See which one is it that would 'End Task' the content server icon.
Once found out, it is easier to clean your computer.
