Simple question (Error)

I've got an error message when installing a new component to Delphi.  Delphi looks for a PAS file ("file not found") when I have the same file but in DCU.  Why?  And how to resolve this problem?

Meanwhile, I will try to resolve this problem by myself.

Thanks for help!

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

That happens when the component you are installed wasn't compiled for the version of Delphi you have.

DCU files are version-specific. For example: if you have a DCU for a component that was compiled with Delphi 4.03, that component can only be installed in a Delphi version 4.03. It wont work with Delphi 4.02 or Delphi 5.

You should contact the developer (or vendor) of the component and see if there is any version available for the very same version of Delphi you are using.
