GIF Animator

I am in need of a powerful, easy to use GIF animator. More importantly, it should be very good for creating transparent animated GIFs. The programs I'm currently using cannot handle transparent backgrounds when the main element in the picture overlaps with previous frames. Freeware programs only, please.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Get GifBuilder. It's probably your best bet for freeware. It has a number of good transitions included and you can do a lot of fancy fine-tuning that you would find in something like Adobe ImageREady. It can be found at download.com along with loads of other places.

In GifBuilder you can set the transparent color of a frame by merely holding shift and clicking the color you want to be transparent in the preview window.

Your suggestion sounded good, but I download the program and when I was going to install it, I found that it was only a trial version.  Will this limit the program or will it stop working after 30 days?  Do you have the full version code?

Here is another.  Shareware, $20 if you want to buy.

I've got the full version. If you do a search and find that no one is giving it away any more, I guess I could pass it along to you (since I got it as shareware). I guess I would just feel better if you could make sure it's not available for free first. (Try looking for the first version.)

As far as I've checked, there's no more FREEWARE GIF animation program. WEB searches returned SHAREWARES.

Go to Microsoft and download Image Composer. It's free, and has a gif animator module. And it's handy as all get out for other effects.
