Hi Folks. I have downloaded some mpegs and put them on a cdrom [new hp cdrom drive]. i notice that once in a while, when viewing the mpeg their is an occassional hesitation. it only last for a split second and might occur a couple of time while viewing the mpeg. This only happens sometimes. generally it works great. I have made some audio songs and games and they came out fine. What caues this? Thanks

Thanks 3408. Does this mean this is normal or is something wrong with my cd rom drive?

Sometimes when you are playing Mpegs you have to have the Lazer lens of the CD completly free of contaminants. I would suggest that you use Allsop and clean the laser lens and watch and hear the difference
Your cdrom reads the cd into the memory. Your viewer will play from memory.
The hesitations are caused by the cdrom that can't read the cd fast enough. (It's important to know that a cdrom is a very bad medium. When a cd is read, a lot of errors occur. But generally the cdrom is fast enough to read it again before you even notice it (or is restored by paritybits)
The problem is that you need a lot of data very fast, therefore the cdrom hasn't enough time to read it again. Yet it must do this (of course), and hesitations will occur.
