HELP

People should have accessed to answered question without the need of loosing points.  EE should scrap this point system crap.  Knowledge is POWER SHARING is the KEY and THIS SITE SHOULD BE FREE.
It is rather sad the people have to pay for points.  I think all the experts are be exploited and someone somewhere is going to be rich.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I am suprised that I am justifying this question with a response but:

First of all, you are mistaken.  Knowledge is power and sharing it is very nice.  As far as I know this site is free.  I say this because I've bene participating here for months and I haven't spent a dime on it though I have shared and received more info than I've seen in most books I've paid good money for.

As you are new here, all I can say is, you have 200 points.  What is sad is that you felt the need to spend 50 of them on this question.  If you get over your misplaced anger, share some information, partake in some knowledge sharing and don't know it till you try it to quote Schoolhouse Rock

Hmm, Expoited.... EE has helped me with many, many technical issues.

Last year when I was going for another position at my company, my participation on EE was one of the factors in my getting that position.

I have also gotten 5 free Tshirts.
I also have the comfort of knowing that if I run into a technical roadblock, I can usually get an answer here in less than 24hrs.

By the way, what does this have to do with Windows 98, please post this type of question in the proper forum (Customer Service or the Lounge)

Thankfully exploited,
Craig

I take that question as an offense to people who are playing the game... and agree the rules

I understand your point 442 and would probably agree but I've never read the rules of this site and as I'm here to help people I'll continue doing so.
Why not find out if there is some other way of getting point other than "buying" them?
perhaps you can trade your expert points for question points?? That would seem fair to me.

There is another way.
After signing up, you earn 5 Points everyday. This allows most people to ask a few questions a month. I have a few and still have plenty of points left, just over 2K.

Have fun,
Craig

Sound fair too me - and you see I never had to read the rules. Hey when ALL ELSE FAILS - read the manual!
I was wondering why my points were going up, but would have been content to just wonder.

The whole idea behind a points system is to lift the quality of the answers provided.  It also makes people think carefully about the questions they ask before posting it.

I use quite a lot of different information services (all of them are free), ranging from news groups to online forums such as EE and Deja.  Of all of them, EE would have to be the best.  Almost all of the experts are professional, friendly and offer top quality answers to the questions.

I can not understand why you would be furious to find that your *free* points are disappearing after viewing questions.  You are warned that the question you are about to reveal will cost you XX points.  The choice is yours.  If you don't want to view the answer, don't!

However, as previously stated, you do get 5 points for free per day.  You pay nothing to use this service.  You get free T-Shirts when you become an Expert and answer a certain amount of question.  The fact that you have become an Expert and that you have answered questions can help you get a job or a promotion (and that has happened to me).

Now, if you weren't TOLD you where loosing points and you where paying for them, THEN you would have a leg to stand on with your complaint, but as it stands, you don't.

Enjoy what is free.  There is plenty of other things to bitch about in life.

Stuart Johnson,  I think i will give you my 50 points, but before i do that, let me make my self clear:
Am just pissed off with the fact that i have to loose points to view answers.
Secondly, Services like Deja, and other forums, don't put ostacles on answers provided by others.  This place would be much safer, happier if it was more freeir.

442.  Save your points.  Listen, if you want to make yourself heard, the best place to discuss these sorts of things is in the Lounge.  There are people there who love talking about this sort of thing, and it can get rather amusing ;)

Have fun mate.
