FP98 Discussion Web Search Not working?

I'm trying to setup the simplest Discussion web and everything works great except for the search feature.

The default search fails to find anything ever!  I have tried asterisks and everything I can think of but it simply will not ever find anything sought no matter what I type in.

Any ideas?  Shouldn't the instant breakfast version of the discussion web work out of the box?  I even tried switching it from frames (bottom choice) to no frames (top choice) and recreating it and still just creates a non working search form.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Informative,

Using the "instant breakfast" version of the discussion board from FrontPage should work fine with the FP Search webbot.  However, your host could have your directory set to restrict searching by default.  If you have rechecked the setup of the discussion board, I would then suggest one of two things.

1.  Your hosting service doesn't have FP 98/2K extentions installed correctly.

or

2.  Your hosting service has your directory "protected" to prevent search results from being generated from the specific directory your discussion board is located in.

Hope this helps...

I have two open questions on the setting up of the extensions now.  I'm assuming that you are correct and that this is actually the problem the Extensions are not installed properly..

If you can help me figure out what is wrong with the server extensions I'll award you both questions.  Please refer to my other question in this same FP area thanks!

I too am having this problem.
I have the FrontPage Extensions version 3.0.2.1330 installed.
My file permissions for my _discussion1 folder seem to be fine(RWX).

Can you offer any suggestions on what else might be wrong?  The solution is not clear from the above threads.
I appreiciate any help you can offer.
