User Name dialog box

Hi,
I have a P2-400 w/ Win 98.
just recently I started getting a dialog box about halfway through the bootup process asking me for my user name and password. I want to get rid of it. It says that if I do't put one in, it won't ask again, but next bootup, there it is again. I've tried everything I could on my own, but no luck. I also use a cable modem. (If that would have anything to do w/ it)
Thanks,

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Search for and delete your *.pwl file(s).  Then restart windows.  It will as you for username and password.  Just press <Enter> without filling in anything.

Change your "primary network" to "Windows Logon" in the network applet of control panel. Then logon without a password and all will be well thereafter.
