Lotus Notes 4.6 Domino Search

The maximum number of records returned in a domino (4.5- 4.6 ver) search is 5000, can we increase this? or is there a plan to increase this in the feature release of the Notes/Domino?

Notes R5 is using a different search engine then 4.x called Global Text Retrieval (or GTR).  This has been developed by a group from IBM.  This has some excellent capablities including international(unicode) support and a search speed of 300-450 megs of text er hour.

Having said that, there does seem to be some problems with it.  There is suppose to be a MAX search results setting that allows you to show only those documents that are relevent, however when it hits the 5000 mark it creates an error.  Lotus is looking into this problem, but has not reported a solution or work arround yet.

So, the answer is yes and no. This is something that Notes/Domino is trying to deal with, but haven't achieved a satisfactory answer for yet.

Hope this is helpful to you.
