e-mail attachments in msword

We have been receiving e-mails that contain msword documents.  We are unable to open them because we do not have msword.  Is there a reader that we can get that will open these documents? (They won't open in Simpletext).  We have a Supermac and we are using Netscape Communicator 4.51.  Thank you.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes there are several ways to do this.

1) you can try to open them in ClarisWorks with one of the provided translators.

2) run it through MacLinkPlus which is supposed to translate those documents for use.

3) Get a copy of either BBEdit lite or CanOpener. Both abailable from www.versiontracker.com. They will simply open the documents as is which means they will display all the Word gobbbledy gook but thats easy to delete. Theyre also cheaper than the other options.
