I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,
As far as you post this question in the perl programming topic, here is a proposed answer :
using perl DBI & DBD packages available at the CPAN (http://www.cpan.org)
allow you to connect to a database and to send SQL queries to a database.
This allow your perl to make any kind of modification into a database.
(but ozo was right, you should specify the OS type &database engine that you wish to use)
