Netelligent NIC with 6.1 Mandrake

I am installing Mandrake 6.1 and the install is not able to autodetect my Compaq Netelligent 10 T PCI NIC. The BIOS shows it just fine. I have link and activity, only Linux doesn't recognize it. The Hardware Compatibility Sheets show that Mandrake (RedHat) is compatible with this product. Any help with this would be much appreciated.

logon as root.  run netcfg.  should be able to configure the card there.  you need module tlan.o installed in order for your distribution to support that card.

I have done that. The only thing I have noticed is that this particular card is recognized as an Intel Etherexpress Pro 100+ (I found this out by doing a lspci - v |more ). The eepro100 module will load, but I still cannot obtain an IP addess.

Obtain an ip address from where?  DHCP server or what?

Sorry...A DHCP server. Wait...I got it! Apparently, during the install, the CMOS settings of the PC that I am using (Compaq Prolinea 5100e) got scrambled. I fixed the settings, and now the card is recognized as an Intel EtherExpress Pro 100+ and gets an IP address. Whew...Thanks for your help.
