floppy drive not working after win98 installed

I upgraded from win95 to win98 and after that my A: floppy drive is totally messed up.  If I try to access it in anyway it freezes everything and I have to re-boot.  The drive works in dos and in safe mode, so it must be something with win98.  I dont see any yellow or red flags in device manager.

Thanks in advance!

try this
1. boot up in safe mode
2. go to the device manager
3. delete the standard floppy disk controller and the generic nec floppy disk driver
4. reboot in normal windows
5. windows should detect the floppy and reintall drivers for it

This should do it; if not post an update of what happened
