relay-domains

I woule get a "Relaying denied" error after I try to send email through sendmail in FreeBSD 3.3 even though I add "mydomain.com" to "/etc/mail/relay-domains" !(it is ok when I add the IP Address of the machines) Why ? Do I need to add some more thing ?

Or can I allow the sendmail be a relay for all machine on Internet ?

It looks like sendmail can not resolve the domain name to an IP Address.

Put the following entry in your DNS database.

aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd IN A mydomain.com
aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd MX 10 mydomain.com

aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd is your mail server address.

Then make sure you can resolve your domain to the mail server address.

try ping mydomain.com

Anyway, how can I turn-off the relaying checking ?

I do not advice that you do that, since spammers can use your machine as a gateway. Everybody is stopping relaying.

I think just commenting the line that says relay-domains in the sendmail.cf file should do it. try it I am not sure.
