digital phone system

HOW CAN I HOOK UP MY ANALOG MODEM TO MY OFFICE DIGITAL PHONE SYSTEM.  THE PHONE SYSTEM I HAVE AT THE OFFICE USES A NORTEL MERIDIAN PHONE THAT DOES NOT ALLOW THE MODEM TO DIAL.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

have the phone guy pull a pair of wires to a rj11 connector for your modem

No. You need to have an analog line - not a digital line. There isn't any other way.

are there any interface devices I can use between the analog modem and the digital phone system. Is there such thing as a digital modem.

Use a ISDN modem if you want to use your digital connection. Do you have a FAX line in the house. You can use it directly.

I looked for digital modems, and found nothing.  If they exist, they would be expensive.  Bite the bullet, and install an analog line.

It isn't going to happen.
There is no such thing as a digital modem, though you may see the term used by the clueless.

Modem means modulator/demodulator, and it specifically means a device that converts a signal from digital to analog for transmission over an analog phone line.

Depending on the nature of your line, you *may* be able to attach an isdn terminal adapter (isdn modem is a misnomer but you may see the term used)but to do this you will need the cooperation of your employer.

There isn't any such thing as a 'standard' digital line. To attach an isdn adapter, you need to make sure that the line is provisioned correctly for the specific isdn model. If your employer is able and willing to provide an isdn bri line yopu can attach a compatible isdn adapter - if not it will never happen and there isn't anything you can attach that will change this.

The three items I listed in my comment will allow an Analog modem to work on a Digital Phone system, so it can be done.
