master detali form

I have a problem entering new records in master detail form. When I manually entrer records in master and detail form I can browse records. But when I try to insert new record I get through the master and first detail record but then when I try to insert a second record in detail grid I get the Master record missing error. What is wrong.

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

Just a wild guess, but did you post the master record before instering the Detail records ? You should always do that, otherwise the detail record could have reference to a master record which isn't created yet.

You are telling me that Delphi, when I move to another row in a detail grid simultaneously insert a new record into the table.
I thought master-detail wizard takes care of posting. So as I understand I have to take care of all of the transaction to the table?

Yes you have to force the master record in first before the detail record can be posted..

Or you can use cache-update and Apply all together...
