"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You best bet is to buy a version of RedHat 6.1.  It installation is gui(graphical) based.  It is a pretty straitforward process.  Do you currently have a version of linux you would like to install?

I suggest you get suse 6.3, because not only does it have a graphical setup, but it has more support for different video cards. Also the manual tells you more about whats going on and possible fixs. Setting up linux is not that difficult if you start in beginner mode, it will setup the partions for you.

Well, the installation procedure is a little different for each linux.  Basically, you boot off of floppy, insert the cd, partition your hard drive, then install linux.  After that, lilo (the boot loader) is installed, you finish setting up your system, you reboot, and you have a linux box (or a dual-boot machine).
