Make Internet URLs doesn't

I have set up my Notes R5 client with the following Advanced option:

File - Preferences - User Preferences.
Under "Advanced options," select "Make Internet URLs (http://...) into Hotspots."

However, it doesn't.  What can I do to convert my URLs to clicakable links?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

From the Notes help:

You can have Notes change uniform resource locators (URLs), or World Wide Web page addresses, into hotspots. If you have access to either the Personal or Server Web Navigator database, you can then click the hotspots to open Web pages inside the database.
  1.      Choose File - Preferences - User Preferences.
  2.      Under "Advanced options," select "Make Internet URLs (http://...) into Hotspots."
To open pages using the Server Web Navigator database
  1.      Choose File - Mobile - Edit Current Location.
  2.      Under "Retrieve/open pages," select "from InterNotes server."
  3.      Under "InterNotes server," specify the InterNotesTM server name.

Welll, we are batting zero tonight.  I appreciate your answers but unfortunately, I did what the Notes Help said "I quoted it in the question" but they don't get converted into links or hotspots so I think something is wrong with the program.  Is there a way to reload the notes client without losing all my mail or settings and maybe that will restore the function?
Or is there an upgrade that I need to make to the client, I am just running 5.0 from the original distribution.
I'm not sure its actually working fine with me.  Create a memo and save it, then check the saved one, u will notice that it will change into a hotspot.
