could do start/run/msconfig and check what's starting with windows?  If you don't reconize the program, just mark it down and post here.

Barry,

This sometimes happens when Macromedia Shockwave is not installed correctly or a file becomes corrupted. Open Windows Explorer and drill down to \Windows\Start Menu\Startup. See if you have a reference to the Macromedia Shockwave initialization file. If its there, delete it from the list and you should not have that problem any longer.

If its not there, then click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Look for Macromedia Shockwave and uninstall it and then reboot. Now check to make sure the error is gone. Now you can install shockwave.
