Slow startup of Quicken 99

I have noticed when starting Quicken 99, it has become sluggish.  It may take up to a minute to open or start.  What could cause this and should I reinstall the application?
Thanks!!

No, other applications seems to work fine or normal when opening.
Soundman,
I would suggest firstly backup the personal data of Quicken 99 to other removable disk or to other hard disk. Try to condense the current data.
If the program is still in sluggish to open, uninstall the quicken 99 and restart the computer. Reinstall the Quicken99 again.

Let me know what happens during the process.     pslh
pslh,
What do you mean by "condensing the current data"?  Are you referring to the personal backup data?
Thanks, Tom
just wanted to be involved on this as Quicken has started to slow up on my machine also. As the year ends and after tax season I will be doing a year end copy with will reduce the amount of data in the file.
However, I have had no problem until I had defrag my drive recently............ so will see what goes on with your situation.
Good Luck

obert,
Thanks, I will look into your suggestion before I try to reinstall Quicken.  I have Norton 4.0 with Auto-Protect engaged, in fact I had to reinstall it recently.   soundman
Thanks OBERT !!!
I have Norton System Works with Norton Anitvirus 2000 and I made the changes.
You were right on target as this really took care of the slow opening of Quicken.

did it work for you SOUNDMAN?
Thanks obert!
Your suggestion has resolved my problem as well.  FYI, I recently has reinstalled Norton AV 4.0, and that is when the problem arose.
