If your monitor can display thousands of colors, you might want to try that setting to see if this helps. Also, make sure that the screen resolution setting in the Monitors (or Monitors &amp;&nbsp;Sound) control panel is compatible with whatever monitor you are using.<br />

The Mac OS highlight setting may also be a culprit. From the Appearance control panel (Mac OS 8.5 and later) you can change the highlight color to something other than, say, the gray that might be interfering, or anotther color that doesn't cause another color to appear on the characters selected.<br />
