How to install a burner

Hello and Merry Christmas.

I just got a cd burner, and I can't get it to run.  I'm new at this.  The cable from my old cd drive has a secondary plug that I used for the burner. So when I rebot my computer does not see either cd drive.  I can only get them to work if only one is pluged in.  If any one can tell me what to do, that would be great.  Thanks

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Have you set your burner's jumper to a slave? If not there a little black plastic at the back of the burner, ususally the jumper would be at a master when u first purchase it. Set the jumper to a slave(second slot next to the primary).
