ive gone around in circles playing with apache 1.3.3 configuration probibally wrecked it but my question is.

when i run httpd it dosent show in processes running so how do i know if its running is there a log file i can check.?

If it isnt in the process list, it isnt running. If you are using redhat, you can do /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd status

(well, it COULD be running from inetd, buit i have never seen that in modern time) :)

try starting httpd with the -t parameter, which will test your config file.

or you could run httpd -X which doesnt fork into daemon mode, so you see all status mesages dumped to STDOUT (which is your console unless you changed it)
