Yellow exclamation mark on secondary ide controller

Was successfully running win98 with two hard disks on the primary ide and a pioneer DR-704S CDRom on the secondary ide. Attached a Mitsumi CDW4804TE with jumpers set as master on the secondary ide but Win 98 did not pick it up. The secondary ide now has a yellow disk with a black exclamation mark. If I reattach my old CDROM win98 successfully recognises it.
What can I do to get Win 98 to recognise the CDRW? Please help

Unfortunately this has been a problem with Mitsumi, but it can be handled easy enough with a few manuevers.

Leave your Drive "C" as the master on the primary bus and put the Pioneer as the slave behind it.

Now place the second hard drive as the master on the secondary bus with the CDRW as the slave.

Double check all jumpers to make sure they are correct and double check your drive settings in the bios setup. Use auto for detection.
