" MemUser cookie does not exist or the GUID does not match"

Over the last week, whenever I try to access Nordstrom's website, I get the following message:
"Incorrect Personalization Information.  The account specified in the MemUser cookie does not exist or the GUID does not match."
I spoke to their internet technician tonight and he said it was a cookie problem and could be solved by upgrading my Netscape 4.6 to the 4.7 version.  I downloaded, installed, and rebooted.  Got the same message.
I searched for cookies with the word Nordstrom and moved them to the trash.  Removed the bookmark also.  Rebooted and typed in the web address--bingo--same message!  I called the Tech Desk back and they are now at a loss too!  I finally did a search for text with the word "MemUser" and found the newly formed cookie that was created when I tried to access the site again (as well as the one I trashed) -- The only cookies that had MemUser were the Nordstrom cookies.

I'm running Win98.  I can access all my other sites just fine.  The Nordstrom Technician could only say that there have been recent problems (not Y2K related) with users accessing their site, but upgrading to most current browser is supposed to solve the problem.  I've run out of ideas too!

Edited text of question.
ALl they say is BS really, i woul dsay their seesion database is messed up. A cookie can pretty much only look one way, and they are able to send / receive it (since you get that message), so something must be wrong on _their_ side.
sounds like Nordstrom is using Microsoft's MPS system for user handling and pesonalization. From my experience with this system, I strongly suspect that your user profile (an Nordstrom's server) is messer up. As this seems to be a serverside problem, there's nothing wrong with your configuration. But you may want to try to access the site with Internet Explorer and look what happens.
thank you Christian Wenz!  Why didn't I think to try getting there on IE!  The Nordstrom person suggested upgrading to either IE5 or Netscape 4.7 should do the trick.  I don't like IE so only used the Netscape upgrade route.

So I just pulled up my IE4 and Bingo there I am on their home page!  I'll call them this morning with your information as that is clearly the answer!

You made a "comment" -- can't I accept your comment as the answer?  Thank you for saving me from myself!

actually.. there is a "accept comment as answer" next to every comment.. so 'dummy' answers arent nessecary anymore :)
hmmm.... how long have I been away? :-)
Thanks for the hint!
Thank you Christian Wenz!  I've put the text of your question in an e-mail to Nordstrom.  I can't imagine the problem could be anything other than your answer.  Poor Netscape--at work I can only use IE5 for any of the agency-specific transactions, but I always use it for everything else.
Happy New Year to you as well!
