Quicken I found out when I workded on a client's computer that the program saves automatically to the hard drive inside the quicken folder under a real unusual name. I am sorry (short term memory problem),I do not know how, but I was able to have the company to save files on floppies per client. Before that they saved everything on the HD and if that would have died they would have been in trouble.

Tonio, the procedure for doing this will change from program to program, but let's work with Quicken as an example.

First, insert a new floppy disk into the drive and format it via My Computer and right click the floppy drive.

Second, once you have a clean formatted floppy, open Quicken and then perform a backup of the information to the floppy disk.

Third, now install Quicken on the new computer if you haven't already done so. Once its installed, open Quicken and recover the backup into your new computer.
