File Associations ( Netscape appears when I really want I. Explorer )

My OS is  Windows 98.  My PC is a 233 MH Pent.II. I have 64 MB of RAM.  I also have NETSCAPE and MS I.Explorer Ver. 5.0 installed.  A few days ago everything was fine.  I suddenly realized that attempting to access my IExplorer Favorites  the Netscape program would start to run.  I don't understand how this could happen but would really like some help on this so that I can have my system running normally; that is, IExplore should run and not Netscape.   I read some info. on this but everything points to calling up the REGEDIT pgm. which I really don't want to attempt.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve my problem ??? Thank You....Lou.

Hi Ilakusta!

Go to your Control Panel (under "Settings" in the "Start" menu) and double-click on Internet. When your'e there look under programs and see if the box with the text "Internet Explorer Should Check Wether It is The Deafult Browser" is marked. If not, mark it and click "OK". Then try to start Explorer from the filemanager or the "Start" menu. Then when it asks for your permisson to make IE to your deafult browser say yes. Now it should work.

llakusta, When you click the DUN, which browser is starting to run?  pslh
If that doesn't work you can restart your computer and hold down (or tap) the F8 key until you get the start up menu.  Choose option #5.  When you get the C:> type scanreg /restore.  You should get a menu with dates.  Chose the most current date before the problem started.
