creating files automatically

when I use a number of programs on my pc I get in my HARD DRIVE a copy of the log file, or dat file
eg scandisk, winzip etc
why is this happening....it never used to.....
when i click on the icon it says aborting not a true font file
I get this icon with a few differrent thing (after i have used them)

Do you get : 2 files called something.log, or is your problem just 1 somthing. log?

For scandisk, you can goto advance and check "no log".  I'm not aware of winzip producing any log/dat files.

winzip does produce log files and many temp files, especially if you're creating self executing zips.
