win95 networking and samba
why can I make my win98 machine run \\sambaserver\share and not my win95B machines they all give me 'network name cannont be found' I can ping sambaserver no problems, all my NT boxes as well map it without hesitation im stumped any help would be great.
Can you ping your win95B machine? Do you have more than one? Be sure your network card is working on the win95B machines. You might try adding the line "lm announce = true" to your /etc/smb.conf file, but I have a win95 box that can find my samba server and I have commented that line. On your win95 machines assuming your TCP/IP network card protocol is installed, in network neighborhood, properties, check your properties for this driver. Under the bindings tab, you should have "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "File and print sharing for Microsoft Networks" checked. If the boxes are not there you will need to install these services.
