Failed to create empty document in NT

I've written an application in Visual C++ 6.0 that runs fine in Windows 95 and 98, but whenever I attempt to run the program in Windows NT 4.0, all I get is a "Failed to Create Empty Document" message. Why is this? I've added AfxEnableControlContainer() to the InitInstance function, to no avail.
By the way, the application has a sliding splitter window on the opening screen.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The error message means that a new document couldn't be created. That might mean that the document couldn't be created, or the view couldn't be created.

Common reasons the view can't be created:

1) It uses a window class that isn't registered.

2) It uses an OLE object or control that isn't registered.

3) It uses a control style that isn't available.

Common reasons the documnet can't be crated:

1) It throws an exception in its constructor.
