IIS Logs

Could someone please give me more information or URL where I can find more info on:

When I view the log file created by IIS, it looks something like:

2000-01-06 00:00:10 195.186.166.117 - W3SVC1 IIS GET /gold.htm 200

What does the code "200" stand for at the end ? I see the code differs from time to time... ???

Thanx,

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I believe you are using the "W3C Extended Log File Format".

The code you refer to is a HTTP status code.  Every request to IIS is logged with the HTTP status return code that is sent to the client browser.  Code 200 means a successful transfer.

Microsoft IIS uses the NCSA Common Log File Format.

for more information.
