Server Room Temperature Notification

I have been asked to try and locate a device that can be placed into each of our server rooms that will provide a read out of temperature and humidity. Also the option to either e-mail or page a Technician if the temperature reaches a certain limit + and -

Does anyone know of such a device or system / application that will do this?

Many thanks

Nick

Don't forget it is not just a high temperature that can cause problems it is the rate of change as well.  i.e. if you computer room reaches 90f in 5 hours everything will probably still work, however if it goes from 60 to 75 in 10 minutes it could fall apart.

We are using UPS but not APC, I'll check out the link to see if it'll work with what we've got.

I'd like to cover the rate change as well as the max temperatures.

Our security company provides this service for us,  they have added sensors that do what you ask.

If the sensors go off, the alarm company is contacted by the alarm dialler.  Each sensor is programmed as a separate zone so that the alarm company can tell that its not a burglary in progress, but a temparature or humidity problem.

Can you give any more details. i.e which company? Are they UK based? Contact details etc

Nick
We use ADT Security and they offer the same service to us, not sure if they're in the UK though.
Thanks Posivibe.

Awetherhold. I've checked out the link you provided, It looks good. Do you know if this would also work with Compaq UPS or just APC?

Nick
Our security company is Australian based only, but the products they use are made in Taiwan.  I suggest you contact your alarm company if you have one.  If not, try companies like Group 4 or any other reputable security firms, they all perform this service.
No, I wouldn't know with out checking with the manufacture.  However, if it is an intelligent UPS and has room for add-in cards (like the APC matrix) someone should manufacture environment-monitoring device for it…
Awetherhold, Heres to getting on the scoresheet. <g> To all thanks for your input. I've given the points to Awetherhold as he/she provided the most useful info, that's not to say that all comments weren't appreciated. Hope this is OK with everyone.
