HPPRSCLT NOT RESPONDING?? WHAT GIVES????

I just recently purchased Scanjet 3300c.  All software is installed correctly (per HP troubleshooting) all connections are correct.  It takes several minutes for it to either copy or scan.  It will not open from within any other program (i.e., Winfax Pro, Photo Deluxe).  It will send to these programs once it finally loads and seems to scan just fine. What is the problem?????

According to HP Troubleshooting in the "startup" tab the boxes System Tray, StillimageMonitor, Hplampc and HPSCANMonitor should be checked, but I don't have Hplampc and HPSCANMONITOR available to me.  Why not??????

you can try this I am not sure if this is different form what you did

ISSUE: Using PrecisionScan LT and after clicking `Start A New Scan' an hour glass appears and then, after a wait, the system times out with an error message `HPPRSCLT not Responding"

SOLUTION: Click Start, go up to Run, then type msconfig in the dialog box and click `OK'. In the window there appears, select the `Startup' tab. Uncheck all boxes except System Tray, StillImageMonitor, Hplampc and HPSCANMonitor and then click `OK' (making notes on which boxes were changed). Open Windows Explorer by clicking Start and going up to Programs and then over to Windows Explorer. Once in Explorer, move down in the left column until you see the yellow folder labeled `Windows'. Click the + sign to the left of the folder and then continue moving down until you see the yellow folder labeled `Temp'. Delete all *.tmp files from this folder.

NOTE: The instructions for deleting the *.tmp files given here are for PC's using the standard Window 98 setup defaults. If your PC is different you may need to contact you PC Manufacturer for assistance in deleting the *.tmp files.

or try this

Uninstall the scanner and all it's software then hit ctrl, alt, delete and end task everything except for explorer and systray then reinstall the scanner and see fi that fixes the problem if you did not do this when you intially installed this it may have not installed all the files it needed because of anti-virus software or utility software...

Also if you have had any previous scanner on the usb port or parallel or any digital camera's uninstall them or take them out of startup folder...
