about settings of jdk1.1.6

I wrote an applet code in jdk1.1.6/bin
and made a file hello.java
then i entered the command tocompile it
javac hello.java
it gave error:can't read file hello.java

After that I made the same file hello.java in notepad and an hello.html file also and then saved both the files in jdk1.1.6/bin.
Then i used
javac hello.java
the file was compiled successfully.
And when i opened the html file through Internet explorer  applet ran successfully.
but when in jdk1.1.6/bin i gave command
appletviewer hello.html
it gave following error
sun.lang. UnsatisfiedLinkError:Stringwidth
sun.lang.......
.....
.....
.....
sun.awt.....
......

What and where the changes are required so that appletviewer command work successfully?

hi,
edit the autoexec.bat file
set the classpath

SET PATH=%PATH%;D:\JDK1.1.6\BIN;D:\JDK1.1.6\JAVA\BIN;
SET CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;

then save the autoexec.bat file and restart the system.

good luck

I AM WORKING ON WINNT4.0,THERE I SEARCHED FOR AUTOEXEC.BAT BUT THIS IS NOT THERE .
SO I MADE A FILE AUTOEXEC.BAT IN JDK1.1.6\BIN AND THEN GAVE THE FOLKLOWING COMMANDS
AUTOEXEC
THIS FILE EXECUTED WHICH SHOWED THAT THE PATH HAS BEEN SET
NOW AFTER COMPILING THE hello.java  FILE WHEN I GAVE COMMAND
APPLETVIEWER hello.html
it gave the same previous unsatisfied link error and not executed at all.
