Star-Office & Excel

Does Star-office provides API to create MS Excel 97 files?

I need to programmatically create a Excel97 file without any component of MSOffice installed on a PC.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I can give you possible workarounds :)

Excel can read delimited files, and those are extremely easy to do. One possible format is to enclose your field in double-quotes, separate each field by a comma, and each line by a standard newline. Excel can read those files !
