Picture files

After re-installing '98, Paint only recognizes bmp and dib file types. Used to recognize, and save, all picture file types.
I've re-installed '98 before and this did not happen.
Any ideas?

Thats all Paint supports, if your supported more, you have installed some program that supplies the needed dll's to handle other formats, paint can use external DLL's to handle other formats, but as default it only handles bmp and dib

How it looked then? What was done before such a change?
ExtremeAuthor Commented:
It would allow me to save and open any file types, .gif, .jpg, bmp, ....
That's the way the system was when I brought it home and each time I've reinstalled (about 3 times over last couple years). But not now. I don't think I missed anything. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered the same thing, perhaps something I missed somewhere.

Extreme, Is it a Win98 or Win98SE? Any other softwares on your computers besides the standard Win98?   pslh
ExtremeAuthor Commented:
Standard 98 (Not SE), and I hope you don't mind me not accepting/rejecting your answer just yet j2, looking for some more comments. Also, if you would know any applications/software that might install those dll's, i'd really like to know, maybe i have it somewhere and installed it before.
Software is pretty much your regular stuff.
I do have a dvd, but have always had that.
Just download ACDC from http://www.acdsystems.com/products/download.htm
It's the best image viewer/browser that I have ever seen.
