Well, when I first started making cd's 5-6 years ago they said that gold was best, and the blue ones were the worst, but several 1000 blue cd's later I've probably thrown one out per 1000 and that might be for other reasons.

I don't think there's any difference today unless you have a really crappy burner.  Mine is a 8x Plextor.

Remember that 80minutes cannot contain audio, or let me rephrase that, you cannot play 80 minutes cd's in your stereo...

We were talking about cdr's and 80 minute writeable cd's cannot be played in an ordinary cd-player.

I have loads of regular music cd's which is longer than 74 minutes, and yes of course they will work!

In order to burn these on a writable, you should buy a good quality 74 min (kodak worked for me) and overburn it with nero or some other program that allows overburning. Most 74 minute cd's has plenty of space left.

Well they all have more space, but some are better quality and better verified than other.   I really can't recommend other than Kodak, cuz that's the only ones I've tried.

All I can tell you is try it and see how it goes.   It's only a $ :)
