Sending an email from VB?

I'm wanting to send an email from VB5 and was wondering if there's a simple way of doing this (freeware ocx?)

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can also use the MAPI controls which are included with Visual Basic.

Unfortunately I cant guarantee the target computer has outlook installed... hence the comment from tkuppinen about using the MAPI control might be more appropriate... where can I find the relevant documentation on using this?

It's all in the VB help file.  It's very simple to do and if you have VB6 then there is even a sample app included.  Just curious as to why you accepted the other answer though?
