Starting the GUI

Fed up with Windows instability i decided to install SuSE Linux 5.2 on my computer. The disk was from a magazine cover and had minimal instructions. Everything seemed to install ok but i have no idea how to start the GUI. The notes say KDE is installed although i have not much idea how to use it ?. Or how to start it. Help !.

Thanks Paul.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

tried "startx"?

you might also need to configure it

XF86Setup
XF86Configurator
Xconfigurator

(or whatever SuSE uses)

Depending of the runlevel that your system is being initilized, the start of kde may be automatic, if defined.
If your system let you by command line after initialization, try to type "kde" in the command line. If  the graphics configuration is ok, the KDE environment must be started.
The KDE interface is very similar to W$98.
If you can't initialize KDE environment, and some graphic error is generated, try to run Xconfigurator, to define your video settings, and after try to run kde again.
