"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Tabs and buttons (other than the standard grey form buttons) are created in a graphics program, saved as an image, and then used by Dreamweaver to build the page.  If you have the version of Dreamweaver that includes FIreworks, make them in Fireworks.  You can add HTML to a button there and import button and HTML into the page with Dreamweaver.

If you are talking about the standard form buttons; open the Objects panel.  Click the down pointing arow below the title bar of the panel.  Choose Forms.  This gives you the form objects which includes buttons to be inserted.

Okay, once you crete the buttons you want in a graphics program, you can use the navigation bar feature in the objects panel.  It should be in the common section.  Click it and it will give you the option to make it vertical or horizontal.  Then you can set the up, down, over, and over-down states and the URL link.  It works well.  It does require a seperate graphic for each state you wish to use.  I usually make just one and save it in three or four different colors.  If you have text on the buttons, you need a conplete set for each link.  If you have Fireworks, you can create nice 3D buttons in up, flat, and down states.

Adobe Illustrator has similar design features, and there are many button sets available as freeware on the net.  WebStyler has some nice buttons also.
