Unix Command

I'm trying to tar data files from a Concurrent System using RTU RealTime Unix using DAT format. My question is what is the command to verify the tape has copied the files.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

tar tf /dev/<whatever>

Will tell you the list of files that made it to the tape and will also complain about any errors on the tape.  There is no way that I know of to do a 100% verify short of making a second tape and comparing the contents (with checksums, perhaps).
