Sharing a modem

Hi
A frind of mine has a local network(Windows 95) where one PC has a modem.
Is there a possibility for other PC's to access the internet through this Modem?

In that case, how?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can use a proxy like wingate (www.wingate.com) or NAT software like Sygate (www.sygate.com)- both have trial versions for download.

You can also use Win98 Second Edition which has an Internet Connection Sharing applet.

Of the three, my personal choice is Sygate for transparency and stability.

Just a note, from an article on this subject. ISP do not like two computers running on line at the same time and even have gone after the culprits!

Gone after the culprits?  To do what to them?  It's not illegal, many companies manufacture software to do it, Windows98 comes with this feature and many ,many networks utilize internet connection sharing.  I would be interested in where you found that info.
