WordPerfect 8 freezes my PC

I have WordPerfect 8 installed on my H.P Pavilion 8595C using Windows 98.  For the first few weeks it worked fine then when I tried to log on the system would freeze up.  Contact with both Corel and HP Customer service was no help.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the programs with no help.  I then uninstalled the program for about a week and it worked fine again for several week.  Tonight I tried to log on and it froze up again.  Any clue to what the problem may be.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This is a problem with WP8. I have the same problem with my Pionex Elite 233. I have found that Microsoft Office does not have this problem. I don't know for sure what the problem stems from, but I have heard that it has to do with the drivers that it installs and conflicts with other software or windows itself. My only suggestion is to switch to Office or some other software. Also, it seems to work better under windows 95, but since your computer has 98 on it, I doubt that you would want to regress back to 95.

Sorry that I couldn't give you more help, but I feel your pain. Wish I had known so that I could have saved myself the trouble and cash in the first place.

IF you were to buy the newest version WP 2000 Office...if you are going to spend the money though, why not get the other software that is more widely used in the business world, and automatically converts your WP files over so that you don't lose data?
