Stopping MSN Messenger at start up

Hi, I know this is Windows98 section, but it is the nearest category to my o/s!
I have a beta2 copy of Windows Codenamed Millenium, on startup it insists on loading MSN Messenger and placing an icon in the System tray.  I already use ICQ and Yahoo Messenger, so don't really want anymore messaging programs!
if i manually close it down, it starts up again when i open outlook express 5 and i have to shut it down again.

any ideas on how to stop it loading? i have checked the startup folder through explorer, and there is no entry there for it.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

bantams, go to start-run, type "msconfig" without quotation in the open box, OK to open the system configuration utilities. At the startup tab, search the line for startup of MSN Messenger and unchecked the box of it.
OK and restart the computer.

It will not load in the systray.    pslh

thanks, that got rid of it.

btw, dew_associates, there is no option in add/remove programs to get rid of msn messenger, wonder if, now they are winning the browser battle, microsoft are gonna make an assault on the messenger market!

naaa, I kinda doubt it, however they are heavily integrating MSN Messenger into OE and Netmeeting. Which Millenium do you have? We just started reviewing pre-RTM.
