IMPORTING MESSAGES FROM OLE 4 TO OUTLOOK EXPRESS 5

How can I successfully import message folders from Outlook Express 4 to Outlook Express 5.  I've tried as many of the import options available to my situation--using MS Exchange shows error message: Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI Client---and using OE4 I get the error message: No messages can be found in this folder or another application is running that has the required files open [I go to the proper directory and no other program I know of is running...certainly not one using the old message files].  HELP!

Not sure if this will help you, but http://www.okinfoweb.com/moe/ is a pretty good FAQ site about Outlook Express.

Kind of a cool page, except that it hasn't been updated since March of last year (and he has some funky Y2K stuff going on; look at the year when you access the page . . . )

I'm also trying to accomplish this, so I'll try and post an answer/comment if/when I find something out.

Ack! Sorry about the double-post.  Guess I'm still figuring out IE5.

Anyway, here's the info you need:
Article ID: Q217264 in MS' Knowledge Base says the following:

CAUSE
This issue can occur if your Outlook Express 4.0 messages are not stored in a folder named Mail.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, create a folder named Mail, copy the message files into the Mail folder, and then point the Import wizard to the folder that contains the Mail folder.

For example, if your messages are stored in the C:\Test\Mail folder, you would browse to the C:\Test folder to import the messages.

NOTE: If you are unable to import the Mail folder, for troubleshooting purposes, copy the Mail folder to the desktop, and then point the Import wizard to the desktop to import the messages.

I copied all of my OE4 files to a folder called "mail" and put it on the C:\ drive; pointed the import wizard, and voila!, instant gratification.  Well, sort of, since I had over 1000 files to move.  Hope this helps.
