I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. No.

The files come back in an undefined order.

Normally, the files come back in directory order; however that's a very implementation-dependent thing. What it exactly means is different for FAT, FAT32, NTFS, CDs, and remote files systems.

If you want a particular order, you need to build a list and sort it to that order for yourself.
