"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

goto run and type MSCONFIG
and click on "selective startup" and then click on "load startup group items"

Still MSCONFIG, but it is

open msconfig (using RUN command in Start Menu)

clickon advanced menu.

unclick the "Disable Fast Shutdown " option.  Also if Scandisk annoys you when you start up after crashing all the time, or because it doesn't shutdown quick enough for you, so you just turn off, you can disable the Scandisk check at boot.

Another thing to try if that doesn't work, is disable Power Management in the CMOS, and see what happens, you may be suprised!  It can interfere with some ATX machines (not that you told us if it was or not.)

PSHCM,
When a question has been graded, about 10% of the original points will be left for future buyer to buy this PAQ.

Original is 20 points x 10% = 2 points.
