System Information Won't Run
I can't run MS System Information (MSINFO32.EXE). When I try to run the program I get these error messages: "MSINFO32.EXE: A device attached to the system is not working," and "The MFC40.DLL file is linked to missing export MSVCRT40.DLL:_purecall."
(I'm then invited to click "OK," of course.)
Both DLLs are on my computer.
How can I get System Information (part of System Tools) to work again?
Thanks!

where are the two files you referenced located?
Badler, insert your Win98 cd into the drive and then click start, run and type in SFC and click OK. Now extract all 3 files you note, one at a time and replace those on your system. If necessary, you may have to re-register the DLL file, but thats easy enough to do. Replace the files first!

That did the trick: Your question led me to the solution.
Both DLLs were in my \windows\system directory, but the MSVCRT40.DLL seemed to small a file (in bytes) to be correct. I just copied the same DLL from another computer and now System Information works fine!
