TS4 Rotate a planet

I've made a planet in TrueSpace 4, and now I want to spin it at a constant speed, how would I do that? And how do I make another planet going round it while it spins itself?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

this is an excellent site for trueSpace MLB's, links, tutorials, free and commercial tSX.
Hope this helps... it's where I go for all my tS needs, or join the tSML!

hey, Kuoster- I take it that no re-post to this thread indicates you were able to get on these 2 sites? Did they help?
I myself used the 'Orbit' tutorial for tS4.3, and it worked!

Yes, the links worked.
But I still don't understand how to  rotate a planet, how do you make it rotate 90 degrees every 15 frames?

This site will explain... it's how to rotate text, so just substitute your planet(object) for the text. Start at third paragraph. This tutorial was done in tS3, I believe, so the interface and buttons are a little different. One piece of advice- right-click on record button and disable auto-record.I can't stress this enough. Also, start your animation at frame 1, then rotate to 90 degrees, enter 15 at 'frame',THEN hit record. Then, rotate to 180,enter 30 at 'frame',hit record.Proceed by adding both degrees and frames incrementally (ie-1,15,30,45,90 for frames, the first(1) being,of course, the start frame;90,180,blah being rotation). If you don't, your animation will "jump" to 15th frame from frame zero(0), instead of smoothly rotating to this frame from frame one(1).You can either do the animation by the methods in tutorial, or you can do it by mouse(click, hold, move mouse). You should disable any axis (x,y,or z) you are not using for more precise manipulation.
Also- each time you enter these #'s for frames (1,15,30 etc or whatever #), they become what are called "key-frames".Right click on arrow icon for object info!
BTW- all this is in manual.

hope this helps! Alot of it will be trial and error on your part. It's a learning thing! Lemme know, and we'll see if I can explain step by step!
If you're going to have rotating planet spin around another object, you'll need to make the planet's rotation "local" to the object it is orbitting.
Inside trueSpace 4(from New Riders) by Frank Rivera is an excellent book you may want to consider buying- around $40 US and found in many places.

No problem-o! There's another book coming out for tS4.. can't remember the name, but it's supposed to be very user-friendly and cover topics not found in the manual. Supposed to be out this month (Feb). tSML archives should tell the name, as it was discussed on the list.
Glad to be of help! Keep on rendering!
